National Museum

This was one building that I definitely wanted to see, perched right on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin, with some pretty amazing looking architecture, it certainly was a sight to see.



The fun started before we even entered the main doors.



Just beyond the main entry, the building design twists and turns with the use of a myriad of different construction materials.

Inside the museum is decidedly Australian, celebrating our past, our people and our land.



Lego Lover thought it would be cool to be shackled as the convicts were, but only for a brief minute!



This particular vehicle display is the oldest Holden in Australia and the only one left today.



Showcasing our mining in this area of the museum, this massive bucket was a definite hit.
You can tell the kids have been the centre of nearly every photo taken this past few days, they are starting to try out all of their poses   





The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander hall is superbly demonstrated, as was the entire museum.
 

Where possible, because we all know that kids simply have to touch, the museum has these smaller ‘touching plates’ that showcase a small piece of the display that can be touched as much as little hands wish.

Whilst not a massive space, this was definitely a worthwhile visit.
