I actually forgot all about these photo's as they were on B's camera, so they are somewhat late ;-)
This is was the very first Science Fair for the Gold Coast so we weren't sure what to expect. The fair was held in a parklands area over looking the broadwater. Various displays from envrionmental companies, to school displays, live shows and experiments were the order of the day.
Surprisingly there weren't that many people there, which was good for us, but not so great for the event. I just hope that they plan to continue growing this event in the years to come.
There were lots of little hands on activities and experiments that were somewhat tricky to get photo's of so we don't have a great deal to share.
One of the schools were showing off their self proplled cars they had made in the lead up to the fair. These inspired B.
Lucky for him a stand just along the way had a 'make your own self propelled car' activity set up. Everything was pre cut from acrylic so it was all pretty simple to put together. These used rubber bands for propulsion.
Once the cars were together they had a little race track set up where you could see just how far you could get your little car to go.
C enjoyed his first funny mirrors experience. I don't hink he quite knew what to make of them though!
The CSIRO had quite a few simple experiments set up for the children to try their hand at.
The boys loved playing in the robotics tent.
We were lucky enough to be there for one of the fabulous shows, of which I have now forgotten the name, but it was something along the lines of The Big Bang. It was full of noise and smoke and lots of lots of fun. Sorry no photo's we were all too busy enjoying the show to worry about taking snapshots. ;-)
Everyone had a nice time at the Science Fair, there wasn't as much as there as I had expected, but I am not complaining since this is the first of its kind in the area. I am sure it will only continue to grow in leaps and bounds.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fun fair. I haven't found anything like that here yet. I'm sure I will sometime.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like everyone had a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a neat and cool experience and science fair! Maybe there is something like this in the states and I just don't know about it? Glad everyone enjoyed it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your blog visit and comment!
I also just clicked a vote for you on the Picket Fence!
Hope you are having a great week!

What a fun, learning experience for your family. Sounds like there was a great variety of hands on activities to cater for many different interests.
